A CV still remains a necessity for us, the recruiters, the HR professionals. Let’s ask ourselves a question: how are we supposed to evaluate a candidate? A personal interview with the candidate is obviously an activity that completes the final impression of the candidate. However, you have a very slim chance of making it to the personal interview without a CV. We recommend structured CVs, where you simply fill in the defined fields. There are many templates available online that will help you create a CV.

Jobseekers often debate over if and where to include their photo on the CV.

The photo is not the most important thing for the recruiter / HR professional. Nevertheless, a poorly chosen photo may affect your chances of making it to the personal interview. In the Czech Republic, people have a bad habit of using a photo that doesn’t correspond with reality, a photo that is maybe 10-20 years old. Not only do women do it, but men do it also 🤓. We definitely recommend avoiding this. You’re certainly not making a good first impression when the recruiter isn’t not sure of who came in for the interview.

It is also essential to provide your contact information, especially a correct telephone number or e-mail address, where you may be reached. Without this information, you have lost your chances of any further progress. Other points include education, your field of study and work experience. Try listing your work experience chronologically, starting with the most recent.

State the name of your employer, the position you had or still have in the company and define your job description. This is practically the most important piece of information on your CV. Provide information that you will be able to defend at a personal interview.

Don’t forget the details

Furthermore, provide details like the kind of tools, machines or software you have experience with and what languages you can speak. Here, just tell us how well you speak the language. However, there’s no need to underestimate or overestimate yourself. We recommend writing the truth and only provide information that you can defend. You never know who you may run into and who will know you. In terms of visualization, keep in mind that “there’s beauty in simplicity”. A recruiter is a professional at reading CVs, so the recruiter is only interested in the content. Visualization is secondary here 😉.
